RESOLUTION OENO 1/94

INTERNATIONAL HARMONIZATION

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

BASED ON the proposai of Commission II Enology, following the reports presented at the 73rd session,

EMPHASIZES that, to facilitate international trade, it is appropriate to app/y or to introduce into national législation if necessary, the harmonized rules of the OIV on enological practices,

NOTES that the development of trade rests on the respect of the requirements of quality linked not only to the typical characteristics owing to the origin, but also to the composition of the products, to the content of elements favorable to health and to the control of contaminants. The undertaking of rigorous technology at ail stages, at the time of production, maturation and bot- tling or conditionning is the proof of respect for these requirements,

OBSERVES the increasingly greater sensitivity of methods of analysis and considers that this must not lead to the establishment of limits that would not be justified for verified toxicological reasons and that producers would have great difficulty in applying,

CONSIDERS that the harmonization of analytical Controls occurs by development of international collaborative analysis and by the effective application of the Resolutions already adopted by the OIV in this domain.
