Description

The resistance of grapevine varieties to grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) is to be observed under field trials over several years without the use of chemical plant protection and/or resistance inductors. Evaluation of the appearance of grey mould on all clusters from at least 6 vines at two periods, if possible: before beginning of veraison (stem rot) and before harvest (actual grey rot). 1 to 3 = many wilted or rotten berries on all clusters; some cluster can be slightly affected. Drop off of clusters. 5 = large percentage of wilted or rotten clusters (up to 20 %) - most clusters are moderately attacked, only few clusters are attacked more severely - drop off of clusters is only slight or no drop off at all. 7 to 9 = only a few wilted or rotten berries on all clusters (only little clusters are slightly attacked). No drop off of clusters. The symptoms should be evaluated considering the climatic conditions, that could influence the evolution of the disease, and, possibly, on plants without any biotic or abiotic stresses.
