The OIV online course on Blockchain applied to the Vine and Wine sector will happen from 4 to 7 June 2024 (1.30 – 5.30 pm CEST). This extensive four-day course offers a thorough exploration of the subject and is designed for participants with diverse professional backgrounds, willing to advance their knowledge on this cutting-edge technology's applications in the sector.

The program will cover a wide range of topics and case studies including traceability in wine supply chains, smart contracts, NFTs and token economics, Metaverse, DeFi, DAOs, as well as policy and regulatory challenges.

This comprehensive program, blending lectures, insights from esteemed guest speakers, and interactive workshops, equips participants with a profound understanding of how blockchain can elevate transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency within the vine and wine sector.

 

How is the course structured

The course is organised around the following 4 days sessions:

 

Day 1: Introduction to Blockchain (4 hours)

  • Theory: Build a foundational understanding of blockchain technology, covering characteristics, types, mining, and consensus mechanisms. Explore the evolution from web 1.0 to web 3.0, smart contracts, and token taxonomy.

  • Case Studies

Day 2: Blockchain Integration in the Vine and Wine Sector I (4 hours)

  • Theory: Evaluate blockchain's value, risks, and integration in the wine industry. Explore successful use cases, emphasising legal, financial, and tech aspects. 

  • Case Studies

Day 3: Blockchain Integration in the Vine and Winen Sector II (4 hours)

  • Theory: Explore continued blockchain applicability in the wine industry, focusing on tokenization and its impact on financing. 

  • Case Studies

Day 4 - Modules – One From The Two Options

  • Option A - Regulatory (4 hours): Delve into legal aspects, global regulations, compliance, and taxation in the blockchain space.

  • Option B - Application of Blockchain in Wineries (4 hours): Engage in a workshop on tokenization, traceability, and transparency at wineries with a focus on roles, legal and financial aspects, marketing, and more.

 

Who can enroll

 

The course is designed for up to 50 participants online who have a background in the vine and wine sector and seeking to enhance their knowledge of digitalisation within the sector.

Given the diverse nationalities of the lecturers, knowledge of English will be valued in the selection of candidates, since it will be the working languages of the course.
