OIV Congress

What we do

From 12 to 16 October 2026, at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the 47th World Congress of Vine and Wine alongside the 24th General Assembly of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) will take place in the city of Yinchuan, Ningxia (PR China), under the theme: “Shaping new paradigms for the global Vine and Wine sector: transforming to meet challenges, innovating to ignite vitality, and sustaining to anchor a shared future”.

China, which joined the OIV in 2024, is the most recent Member of the Organisation and the first new Member of its second century.

The country has the 3rd greatest planted vineyard surface in the world. It is also the 11th largest consumer and importer of wine, and the 1st table grapes producer in the world (43% of world production). China has developed, over a few decades, a production of high-quality wines expressing a diversity of terroirs.

The website of the Congress will be soon available.

Each year a member state of the OIV, along with the OIV, invites and hosts scientists and researchers from around the world to present and share their findings and results.

Presentations made during the Congress are based on a scientific or academic paper and are chosen for relevance and excellence. Works are then published in open access. Around 600 scientific articles are currently available via this system
