MODIFICATION OF OIV RULES: SUB-COMMISSION “ NUTRITION AND HEALTH ”

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY,

CONSIDERING the Resolution OENO 3/93 and notably its paragraph relative to the création of a structure responsible for questions of nutrition and Health,

CONSIDERING the report presented by the Director General at the Executive Committee of December 3, 1993, after having received the opinion of the Experts of the Group “Nutrition and Health ”and that of the Scientific and Technical Committee,

CONSIDERING the décision taken by the Executive Committee on March 24, 1993 to create three Groups of Experts whose functions could be coordinated by a Sub-Commission “Nutrition and Health ”,

DECLARING the necessity to create such a Sub-Commission,

CONSIDERING the provisions of the OIV Rules, Article 1/i with respect to the création of sub­ commissions,

DECIDES baseds on the proposai of the Executive Committee:

  1. to create a Sub-Commission “Nutrition and Health ”,
  2. to modify the OIV Rules to take into account the creationof this Sub-Commission as follows:
  • Article 6 h) is supplemented by the following indication: “and V bis ”
  • Article 8.4, first indent is replaced by the following provisions: the fundamental agenda of the Commissions and of the Sub-Commissions,
  • Article 9 c/ and d/ is replaced by the following provisions:
    • c) the présidents of the Commissions and Sub-Commissions referenced in Chapters V and V bis below,
    • d) the outgoing Présidents of the Commissions and the Vice*Presidents of the Sub- Commissions.

CHAPTER V bis - Sub-Commission “ Nutrition and Health ” Article 13 bis

  1. The Sub-Commission “ Nutrition and Health ” is responsible for collecting objective médical and scientific studies of the physiological implications of wine consumption, monitoring devel- opments in this area, and disseminating this information, in particular to the médical pro­ fession, governments and consumers
  2. The Sub-Commission, “ Nutrition and Health ”, is responsible for coordinating the activity of the Groups of Experts that are attached to it, that work being based on the assignments envisaged by the Executive Committee in order to achieve the objectives that fall within the Sub-Commission’s area of responsibility.
  3. Placed under the authority of Commission II “Enology ”, and as needed, under that of Com­ mission III “Economies ”,it is also responsible for preparing the Resolutions which are sub- mitted to the compétent Commission before being proposed at the General Assembly.
  4. It pursues its activity, to the extent that its appropriate financing is assured.
  5. It elects a Président, a Vice-President and a Secretary by secret ballot. The term of office of the Président and Vice-President is three years renewable once.
  6. Décisions are made by majority vote.
