Compendium of International Methods of Analysis of Spirituous Beverages of Vitivinicultural Origin ed. 2011
The Compendium of International Methods of Analysis of Spirituous Beverages of Vitivinicultural Origin follows on from the Compendium of International Methods of Analysis of Spirited Beverages, Alcohol and Beverage Aromatic Fraction which was drafted and approved the OIV Methods of Analysis and Appraisal of Wine sub-commission in accordance with the mandate given by the 72nd General Assembly. This sub-commission was presided over by Professor L. USSEGLIO-TOMASSET and Professor A. BERTRAND, Scientific Secretary was the recording secretary for the aforementioned Compendium.
The 74th General Assembly, held in Paris on 10th June 1994 unanimously agreed to recognise this compendium as an OIV Compendium of International Methods of Analysis. In accordance with the conditions for this recognition (Resolution OENO 6/94), "methods not yet validated will be validated by joint analysis”. With the exception of one method, the key methods were validated under the responsibility also with the cooperation of the European Union and these methods are included in the current Compendium. They are classified according to OIV rules (see classification [FR] [EN]).
Certain more exceptional usage methods have not been subject to validation by the OIV protocol, they have simply been copied from the 1994 Compendium. New methods are also presented. All these methods are classified as type 4. Mr Peter LIDDLE coordinated the working group responsible for preparing these resolutions.
All of these validated methods, newly presented or simply copied from the old compendium have been drafted and approved by the Methods of Analysis sub-commission presided over by Professor Pekka LEHTONEN with Professor A. BLANCH, Scientific Secretary and adopted by the 7th General Assembly of the OIV by resolutions OIV-OENO 379, 380, 381, 382ABCD of 2009. Finally, certain methods that do not directly relate to spirituous beverages of vitivinicultural origin, or that have been judged obsolete were not copied from the old Compendium.
